The Young Naturalists’ Society is pleased to announce two events happening next week!
1) The next meeting of the Young Naturalists’ Society has been scheduled for next Friday (May 10, 2013)! We will be covering basic mushroom ID, native plant ID, and an introduction to the western fence lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis).
2) The next Young Naturalists’ Society FIELD TRIP has also been scheduled and that is happening next Saturday (May 11, 2013)! We will be exploring the North Cascades (near the town of Leavenworth) in search of western fence lizards, native plants, and early spring mushrooms.
Please get these dates into your calendars! Details about each event can be found below:
YNS Meeting (mushroom ID, plant ID, and western fence lizards!)
When: Friday (May 10, 2013) from 5:00pm-6:00pm
Where: The Burke Museum, come in through the main entrance (east side of the building).
YNS Field Trip to the North Cascades*
When: Saturday (May 11, 2013) from 8:00am-6:00pm
Where: Natural areas in the North Cascades around Leavenworth, WA (off of Hwy 2).
On the day of the trip we will meet at 8:00am in the parking lot of the Burke Museum. Here we will split into separate vehicles and make sure everyone has directions to the locations we will be visiting. (An email will be sent out shortly to work out carpools — please contact me if you are willing to volunteer as a driver.)
This will be a full day trip. We’ll be stopping for lunch along the way, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring a snack! Hiking boots and binoculars are encouraged!
Hope to see you all there!
